The Grain Valley Police Department is proud to announce that School Resource Officer (SRO) Danny Iiams was awarded the esteemed Thomas R. Meyers Award by KC-ASIS on Friday, June 6, 2025. KC-ASIS is an organization dedicated to providing protection for the private security sector and honoring officers who demonstrate the highest levels of community service.

The Thomas R. Meyers Award is presented in memory of Kansas City Police Department Officer Thomas Meyers, who tragically lost his life while working a traffic accident, struck by a drunk driver. This award recognizes law enforcement professionals who embody the spirit of community outreach and relationship building that Officer Meyers exemplified.

Officer Iiams, with nearly two decades of dedicated law enforcement service, has consistently demonstrated unwavering passion and dedication as a leader in community engagement. He serves as a mentor, role model, and paragon of selfless service, tirelessly working to develop lasting and meaningful relationships within the Grain Valley community.

His sustained commitment to proactive community policing is evident in the numerous impactful programs he leads, which benefit current and future generations. These initiatives include:
