The mission of the City of Grain Valley is to provide residents, businesses, and visitors with the highest level of service by providing professional municipal management in the areas of public safety, parks and recreation, community and economic development, water, sewer, transportation, and the stewardship of public funds.

Conveniently located just 24 miles east of downtown Kansas City on Interstate 70, Grain Valley provides residents with easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment, yet, maintains the charm and friendliness of a smaller community. That’s why we’re one of Missouri’s fastest growing communities! In March 2015, the Kansas City Business Journal reported in Grain Valley as one of the fastest-growing area cities by 2014-2019 projected population growth.  Part of our success is credited to great schools, parks, and neighborhoods, along with low crime, new infrastructure, and a wide variety of housing choices.

From youth sports leagues to special activities for senior citizens, Grain Valley offers enjoyment for all ages. A park, pool, and community center, along with baseball, softball, football, and soccer fields give young and old alike the opportunity to stay active. Also, Grain Valley’s low crime rate makes the community a safe place to call home. Real estate blog Movoto recently named Grain Valley as Missouri’s sixth safest city, based on FBI crime data. In terms of housing choice, Grain Valley consistently ranks in the top tier of metropolitan suburbs by providing homes priced from $50,000 to $350,000, which assures opportunities for virtually every budget. Because the majority of the community’s neighborhoods were built within the past 15 years, Grain Valley’s modern infrastructure for water, sewer, stormwater, and transportation are constructed to higher standards.

As one of Missouri’s fastest-growing school districts, the Grain Valley Schools work tirelessly to make their motto “…every student, every day!” come to life. Serving 4,100 students in an Early Childhood Special Education Center, four elementary schools, two middle schools, and a high school, Grain Valley is proud to offer small class sizes while at the same time offering larger school academics and activities. The district has doubled in size since 2000 and continues to focus on a small school feel as its mission to serve all students. In May 2015, the Washington Post named the Grain Valley School District among the Most Challenging U.S. High Schools. Grain Valley High School is ranked in the top five percent of public high schools in the United States, fifth in the state of Missouri, and number one among Missouri schools in the Kansas City Metro. The Grain Valley Schools are truly a great place for kids to learn and adults to work.

Great schools, parks, affordable housing, available sites, and a ready workforce make Grain Valley a community focused on providing a high quality of life.
