Summary
The primary function of an employee in this position is to answer inquiries, direct and provide customer service to patrons in the Grain Valley Community Center as well as provide administrative and programming support to the facility while maintaining quality assurance.Essential Functions
- Performs front desk duties including answering phones, assisting customers and providing information to the public
- Monitors people entering and exiting the facility
- Records registrations for facility memberships, recreation programs/classes, and room/shelter rentals
- Assists with the planning, promotion and implementation of facility programs and events
- Routinely sets-up rooms for meetings/special events
- Conducts routine cleaning and maintenance for the facility and equipment
- Follows City-wide safety policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the City's Loss Control Handbook
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must be available to work weekdays from 5:30 pm to close and weekends 8 am to close
- Experience in public recreation and/or facility supervision
- Strong communication skills
- Strong customer service skills

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Knowledge of:
- Recreational programs and activities
- Communicate effectively with patrons and co-workers
- Follow oral and written instructions
- Work a non-traditional and flexible work schedule
- Utilization of general cleaning supplies and equipment
- Basic cash handling procedures that include providing proper change to customers
- Basic computer skills
- The work is performed under the supervision of the Community Center Manager

- The primary duties of the position are performed in an indoor recreational facility and outdoor park environment that may include working in adverse weather conditions
- Sufficient clarity of hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions, communicate with other employees and the public
- Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and sort through general paperwork
- Sufficient ability to stand for long periods of time
- Sufficient strength to roll, lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds for varying distances
- Sufficient body flexibility, mobility, stamina, and balance to perform light maintenance operations that require bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching, and other physical exertions
- Sufficient ability to walk medium to long distances
- Sufficient ability to endure exposure to weather conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, and prolonged sun and heat exposure during summer months
