The City of Grain Valley will be hosting its first ever photo contest to showcase all that the community has to offer. Participants of all age groups are welcome. This photo contest serves as a fun way to highlight our parks/trails, culture, neighborhoods, and talented photographers!

When:  The contest will run from Tuesday, July 12th through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, September 11. (Extended from August 14th) 

Theme: Hometown Pride - What do you love about this community? What makes Grain Valley home? Showcase your hometown pride with the following categories:

  • Nature Adventures (ex. wildlife, pets enjoying trails in GV, sunrises/sunsets, landscapes, etc.)
  • People of Grain Valley (ex. people enjoying the city such as fishing, biking, participating in Parks and Recreation events, and visiting local businesses)
  • Making Main Street (With the revitalization of the Downtown District, let’s highlight the aesthetic of the Downtown Grain Valley.)
  • Drone Shots
  • Young Photographer (15 and under)

Rules:

  1. Photos must be taken in Grain Valley. Participants may enter as many images as they wish.
  2. By submitting an entry, the entrant (in case of minors, the minor's parent/legal guardians) grants the City of Grain Valley the right to reproduce, display or distribute materials for marketing and media use.
  3. Images with watermarks are not permitted. Low resolution photos may be disqualified. 
  4. Any image of a person must be accompanied by a written consent form. A minor (17 and younger) depicted in a photo must have permission from their parents and/or legal guardian. You can find a consent form on our website by clicking here.

Judges will choose a winner for each category. The winners of each category will be featured in the upcoming Spring/Summer edition of City View, as well as having their image displayed in a City facility. Winners in the Nature Adventures, People of Grain Valley, Making Main Street, and Drone Shot category will win a $50 credit towards their water bill. The winner the Young Photographer categories will win a personal recognition by Mayor Mike Todd.

(If applicable, consent forms may be scanned and attached to the email entry or may be delivered in-person at City Hall, 711 Main Street.)

All entries will be featured on the City’s social media platforms.

 

Note: Due to the extension of the photo contest, all photos will be featured in the Spring/Summer 2023 edition of City View - not Fall/Winter 2022-2023.
